About CCA - Our Curriculum

CCA’s primary curriculum is A Beka. A Beka’s skilled researchers and writers do not paraphrase progressive education textbooks and add biblical principles. They perform primary research in every subject and create textbooks from a biblical world view, built upon the firm foundation of Scriptural truth.

For Math, CCA uses Saxon math.  Saxon math is the nation’s most comprehensive and most thoroughly researched home school math program, with more than 30 years of proven success. Saxon mathematics for grades K–12 is based on the teaching principles of incremental development, continual practice and review, and cumulative assessment.

See the About page for more information.

History
Camden Bible Baptist Church (then Camden Baptist Temple) started Camden Christian Academy at the beginning of the 1981-1982 school year under the leadership of the pastor, Brother Al Green. The school originally met in the fellowship hall of the church and was primarily for the families of the church. The students wore uniforms when the school started but the colors often changed. There was no gym when the school opened so the first basketball teams played a lot of road games and also used the Boys Club several times. The church has been through a fire and a flood. The church and school met in an old funeral home on California Ave. after the fire in 1983 and all of the church buildings were flooded in the spring of 1997. There have been many changes during the ensuing years.

1981 - CCA opened with 20-30 students
1984 - First graduate
1984 – Changed to the A Beka curriculum in first through sixth grades
1988 – School Closed
1990 – School reopened in new building
1997 – Completed conversion to the A Beka curriculum in all grades
2004 – First graduate to complete K-12 at CCA

Sports

Camden Christian Academy joined the Arkansas Association of Christian Schools (AACS) athletic league starting with the 2009-2010 school year. At the end of the 2008-2009 school year the Arkansas Louisiana Christian Athletic League (ALCAL) disbanded. Some of the ALCAL schools joined a Louisiana league and some joined the AACS. Our main sports continue to be basketball and volleyball. We had our first golf team in the 2009-2010 school year and hope to be able to play other sports depending on the number of students that are interested in each sport. You can find more information about the AACS on their web site at www.aacsschools.com.
